SHELBY MARIE PHILLIPS Obituary's Obituary
Shelby Marie Phillips, age 33, left this world on June 3, 2014. Shelby was born on October 7, 1980 in Leon, IA to Laura Alice Sloan McMurry and Douglas Dwight Fetters. She grew up a small town girl for the majority of her life, living in the towns of Allerton, Corydon, Numa, Chariton and Centerville. She participated in many sports, softball and volleyball being her favorite. She graduated from Wayne Community School in 1999 and went on to Indian Hills Community College in Centerville earning an associate degree. In 2005 she married her best friend James Oren Phillips and they were blessed with three sons, Coby James Phillips, Hudson Edward Phillips and Sloan Anthony Phillips. Shelby liked the Iowa Hawkeyes and the New York Jets. She and James enjoyed having people over to watch the Hawkeye football games as well as going with family and friends to Iowa City to tailgate and watch them play. Shelby also liked laying out in the sun and enjoyed floating down the river with James, and other friends and family. She just loved being around people. She had a smile that seemed to light up a room and her happiness was often contagious. She was the kind of girl that might fight against you one day and fight for you the next. Shelby loved music, dancing, and singing karaoke, she was usually the life of the party. But what she loved the most was her family. She had an extremely close relationship with her mother and two 'seestors' Amy Tibai and Lizabeth Florez.
