Shawntelle L Stottlemyre's Obituary
Shawntelle (Shawnee) Lee Stottlemyre of Unionville, MO passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Wednesday night, April 2, 2025. Shawnee was born to Patricia Delong and David Converse in Knoxville, IA on August 5, 1969. Shawnee was preceded in death by a brother, Christopher (Chrissy) Converse, her biological father, David Converse, grandparents, Jim and Coleen Delong, and her nephew, Landon Golston. She is survived by her husband, Richard (Rick) Stottlemyre, her son and daughter-in-law, Doyle (Angie) Stottlemyre, her daughter and son-in-law, Stacia (Jimmy) McGaughey, her brother Nathan Golston, and brother and sister-in-law, Billy (Marcy) Golston, and her parents, Patricia Bowen (Delong) and Steve Golston. Shawnee is also survived by several beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Shawnee met Rick Stottlemyre, when he would pick up her dad, Steve, for work at Star Coal Mine in Lovilla, IA. They married on September 3, 1988. After they were married at the First Baptist Church in Unionville, MO they resided in Putnam County, MO for 37 years while raising their son and daughter.
Shawnee was a devoted wife and homemaker. Shawnee had a love for animals and enjoyed having several pet dogs and cats over the years, as well as some other random animals that made their way onto the farm. She loved her children and taught them how to swim and ride horses at an early age. Her husband and children were her world, and she loved deeply. She was kind and had a wonderful sense of humor. Now grown, her children remember that no matter what trials life brought her, Shawnee's love for them and her faith and trust in God remained unwavering.
Shawnee accepted Christ at the age of 14 and later became a baptized member of the First Baptist Church of Unionville, MO. Shawnee's children remember her for teaching them that no matter what this life brings, you can always pray and lean on Jesus. Shawnee's walk with God was one of quiet solace and constant prayer. She sought peace and comfort from her Lord, first of all, and from her family.
