Sharon Russell's Obituary
Sharon Kay Russell, 76 of Drakesville passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at her home. Sharon was born to Cecil & Wilma (Cornell) Buchholz on November 20, 1938 in Ottumwa, Iowa. She received her education from Ottumwa Schools. On May 21, 1956, Sharon was united in marriage to Harold Russell in Leando, Iowa. To this union were four children; Janie, Sharon, John and Gary. Sharon was a homemaker throughout her life. Her job was to keep the family organized and she was great. In her spare time, Sharon loved being outside when weather permitted. She loved bird watching, gardening and visiting with the family. She also found enjoyment in sewing and was an avid card player. She belonged to several card clubs. Sharon also enjoyed her Class of 1957 Ottumwa High School activities and reunions. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Harold Russell of Drakesville, four children: Janie Scott of Centerville, Sharon Roland (Larry) of Drakesville, John Russell (Vicki) of Anderson, South Carolina, Gary Russell of Drakesville, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two brothers: Walter "Bud" Buchholz (Lavetta) of Ottumwa, Dean Buchholz of Ft. Myers Beach, Florida and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, great grandson, Garrett Cox, sister, Colleen Clements and a brother, Wayne Buchholz. According to her wishes, Sharon's body was cremated. There are no immediate plans for a service at this time, the family will have a gathering at a later date. Memorials can be given on her behalf to Hospice of Central Iowa which can be mailed to the family or Thomas Funeral Home - PO Box 125 - Centerville, Iowa 52544.
