Sharon Laurene O'Donnell's Obituary
Sharon O'Donnell, age 75 of Corydon passed away on September 11, 2021. She struggled the last several years with ongoing health complications as a result of vasculitis. Her husband was beside her when she passed.
Sharon Laurene Penner was born on July 28, 1946 to Isaac and Elsie (Wolford) Penner in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. Sharon attended school in Minnesota and graduated from Mountain Lake High School in 1964. She then attended one year of college. She was united in marriage to Robert Francis O'Donnell on January 9, 1987 in Butterfield, Minnesota. The couple shared six children: Shelly, Lori, Nicole, Katherine, Charles, and Bridget.
Sharon treasured spending time with family and friends. She loved sharing memories that happened throughout her life and attending her grandchildren's events. Throughout her married life, she lived and worked in a variety of places. Sharon and Bob were active members of each community where they resided. Following her retirement, she enjoyed annual trips to a cabin in Two Inlets, Minnesota. She found beauty in nature and spent time wildlife, horse, and bird watching. Sharon was always game for rummy or cribbage. She had a great sense of humor and was a great lover of music-especially the Beatles. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Corydon and member of P.E.O. of Corydon.
Sharon is survived by her husband Robert O'Donnell, children: Shelly Keune (Ron), Lori O'Donnell-Hinshaw, Nicole Roiger (Scott), Katherine Nulsen (Robert), Charles Hempeck (Heidi Runyon), Bridget O'Donnell (Johnny), grandchildren: Leah Keune (fiancé Jason Rasmussen), Alexis Dickens, Zachary Dickens, Lucas Nulsen, Kyle Nulsen, Erin Hinshaw, Emma Hinshaw, Ellis Hempeck, Inga Hempeck, sister Rita Sawatzky (Ronald), numerous extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Francis Parish at 213 W Jackson St., in Corydon, Iowa with Father Samuel Danso officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 with family present from 5-7 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon. Interment will be in Colo, Iowa at St. James Cemetery.
