Shannon Dean Perkins' Obituary
Shannon Dean Perkins, 90 of Seymour, Iowa passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Wayne County Hospital in Corydon, IA.
Shannon was born on March 30, 1933 to Wayne and Bernice (Jennings) Perkins in Rolfe, Iowa. He attended high school in Rodman, Iowa. He then went on to serve his country in the United States Army for two years in Germany where he met the love of his life Waltraud "Wally" Fettig. They were married on January 15, 1957 and to this union they welcomed four sons; Raymond, Wesley, Gordon and Tracy.
Shannon and Wally returned to the states where they farmed in northwest Iowa until 1972. They then bought a farm in Missouri where they farmed until 1987. He then worked for Premium Standard Farm for many years and retired in 2004. After retirement they moved to Seymour, Iowa.
Shannon enjoyed traveling with Wally, whether it was going to craft shows, Rutledge or even the two trips back to Germany. He was a good mechanic who also enjoyed wood working, feeding the birds, growing flowers and gardening. He was a wonderful family man who loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Shannon was a member of the Masonic Lodge in West Bend, Iowa and Seymour Methodist Church.
Left to honor Shannon's memory is his loving wife Waltraud "Wally"; sons, Raymond (Jackie) Perkins, Wesley Perkins, Gordon (Lisa) Perkins; grandchildren, Raegan (David) Paulsen, Cheyne (Aimee) Perkins, Sheena (Zach) Robinson, Nick (Chrissy) Perkins, Natalie Perkins (fiancé Ben Baker); great-grandchildren, Erin, Jocey, Traeger, Kenzie, Ashtyn, Heston; sister Nancy Robbins; sisters-in-law, Linda Lee Fettig and family, Rosie Poller and family, along with many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Bernice Perkins; infant son, Tracy Perkins; Brothers, Wayne Jr. (Jean) Perkins, Marvin Perkins and Morris (June) Perkins; daughter-in-law, Linda Lou Joan Perkins.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 18, 2023 at 11:00AM at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon, Iowa. Interment with Military Rites will follow immediately after at Southlawn Cemetery in Seymour, IA. Visitation will be Monday, December 18, 2023 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon, Iowa.
