Sarah J. Kane's Obituary
Sarah (Sally) Jane Kane age 76 of Centerville, Iowa and former resident of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away peacefully Monday February 28, 2011 at the Centerville Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born the daughter of Larry and Mary (Myers) Drew in Akron, Iowa on September 29, 1934. She grew up and attended school in DeWitt, Iowa. On November 13, 1956, she married Richard T Kane in DeWitt, Iowa and shortly thereafter moved to Bettendorf. Sally worked many years as a secretary and key punch operator and retired from her secretarial position for the Alcoa Aluminum workers of America in the early 90s. In 1995 she moved to Centerville to be near her family. She enjoyed the theater and music. She also liked playing card, crossword puzzles, and the Wheel of Fortune. She loved traveling especially by car and spent many hours exploring Centerville and Appanoose county.She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Richard T. Kane.Sally is survived by sons, Joel Kane and his wife, Kathy of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Rich Kane and his wife, Annette Kane of Centerville, Iowa; her brother, Bill Drew and his wife, Madeline of Waunakee, Wisconsin; grandchildren Renae Frank and her husband, Craig of Rogers, Arkansas, Kathy Kane of Lewisville, Texas, Jeff Kane and his wife, Kristen of Huxley, Iowa, Ryan Kane of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Tyler Kane of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Sheree Dudenhoeffer of Centerville, Iowa and Bobby Dudenhoeffer of Ames, Iowa. She is also the proud great grandmother of Billy, Makiah, Nate, Elliott, Aaron, Stetson, Abby, and Adalie.Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 4, 2011 at 10 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Kay Singley officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2011 from 2 until 8 pm and the family present from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society and can be mailed to or left at the funeral home.
