Samuel Montegna's Obituary
Samuel Joseph Montegna 84, of Centerville, died September 15, 2005 at the Veterans Hospital in Knoxville, Iowa.
Samuel was born on December 24, 1920 the son of Tony and Josephine (Vazzano) Montegna, in Centerville, Iowa. Samuel received his education in Centerville. He married Barbara Power at the St. Mary's Catholic Church on August 12, 1954. He worked for George Mattingly Tree Service and for the City of Centerville Parks. Sam was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army. He was wounded in action in France, he was a member of the American Legion and VFW and St, Mary's catholic Church. Samuel is survived by his three sons; Joseph Montegna of Centerville, John Montegna and his wife Tina of Haughton, Louisiana, and Timothy Montegna and his wife Lana of Centerville. A brother Nino of Placerville, CA , nine grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Samuel is preceded in death by his wife Barbara, his parents, a son Samuel Alvin Montegna, 2 brothers Carol and Bennie and five sisters Susie Picolo, Bessie Van Wenkle, Anna Denning, Santina Piazza, and Pat Monfordini.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held 11:30 AM Friday, September 23, 2005 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville with Fr. Ron Will C.PP.S officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday September 22, 2005 from 6PM until 8PM, at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home in Centerville. A Scripture Service will be held at 6 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery, Centerville. A memorial has been established and may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St. Centerville, Iowa 52544.
