Samuel Coulter's Obituary
Samuel Coulter, age 79 of Centerville, Iowa died Sunday, September 17, 2012 at Centerville Nursing and Rehab Center in Centerville.
He was born June 13, 1933 in Ballymens, Ireland. Samuel grew up in Ireland and served in the military while residing there. He later moved to the United States and served in the Army during the Korean War.
Following Samuel's honorable discharge, he became employed at John Deere in Ottumwa. He retired from the company in the packing department.
Upon Samuel's arrival to the United States, he met Cormie Drew. She became his life partner. Through their union, Samuel became a grandfather to Cormie's five grandchildren. He developed a strong bond with the grandchildren. Cormie passed away on August 29, 1979.
He is survived by five grandchildren, O. Lidia (Jesus) Drew- Cortez of Silvis, Illinois, Nereida McKenney of Scottsdale, Arizona, Lisa (Paul Crighton) Drew of Lincoln, Nebraska, Wyane (Julie) Drew of Des Moines, Iowa, and Brenda Glasscock of Lincoln, Nebraska; fourteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his two siblings, Margaret Hughes and James Coulter.
Graveside services will be held 2PM, Thursday, September 20, 2012 at the Highland Cemetery in Mystic, Iowa with Pastor Walter King officiating. Military rites will take place at the cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Samuel Coulter Memorial Fund and may be given to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
