Sally Kay Banks' Obituary
Sally Kay Banks, age 81 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021 at MercyOne Medical Center in Centerville.
Sally was born on October 15,1939 in Mystic, Iowa, the daughter of Ted and Gracie (Frost) Clark. Sally spent her formative years in Mystic, graduating from Mystic High School in 1957. One highlight as a young woman, was being crowned Pancake Day Queen in 1956. She was united in marriage to Gerald Eugene Banks on December 5, 1958 at the Methodist Church in Mystic. To this union of marriage, the couple were blessed with four children, Teddy, John, Joe, and Charles.
Sally worked at the Centerville Sale Barn for many years, and also worked as a teller at the Centerville National Bank, for a period of time. She spent the latter half of her working career with Iowa Southern Utilities, where she dedicated many years to the company employed as an Appliance Sales Representative until her retirement.
In retirement, she accepted a part time position as a secretary with Lange Funeral Home in Centerville. The position eventually became full time, due to Sallys commitment to the job. She worked for the funeral home for several years, managing the office with both determination and grit.
Sally was linked to numerous organizations throughout her lifetime, including the Hospital Auxiliary, Mystic Cemetery Association, and the Mystic Alumni Association.
In her free time, she had many hobbies, including crocheting, crafts, and playing Nintendo-especially the game, Zelda. Most importantly, Sally cherished her family and was mindful of her grandchildrens extracurricular activities.
Left to honor Sallys memory include her children, Teddy (Jim) Walker of Mystic, Iowa, John Banks (Norrine Heesch) of Seymour, Iowa, Joe (Lori) Banks of OFallon, Illinois, and Charles (Stephanie) Banks of Donnellson, Iowa; grandson, Josh (Stacy) Walker and their children, Justin Walker, Jackson Walker, Grace Walker, and Jonathon Walker; granddaughter, Jennifer Morgan (Fianc, James Parker) and her children, Alexis Hudson (Fianc, Nathan Fry), Kathryn Morgan, and Atlee Parker; grandson, John Banks (Fianc, Amantha Mayfield); grandson, Brent Banks and his daughter, Karter Banks; granddaughter, Brennan (Tuff) Christianson; granddaughter, Taylor (Josh) Stadler; granddaughter, Nichole Banks; grandson, Jacob Banks and his two children, Skylar Banks and Jude Banks; granddaughter, Chelsey (Donald) Archambault and their two children, Orion Archambault and Owen Archambault; grandson, Peyton Banks; and granddaughter, Katarina Banks.
Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Banks on April 30, 2010, her parents, Ted and Gracie Clark, and her brother, Bill Clark.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, February 5, 2021 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Jan Spurgeon officiating. Burial will follow in the Sharon Chapel Cemetery, Southeast of Centerville. A visitation will take place Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, with the family receiving friends from 6-8 PM. Memorials have been established to either the Mystic Cemetery Association, MercyOne Hospital Auxiliary, or to the Sharon Chapel Association and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
