Ruth Matheny's Obituary
Ruth Matheny, 75 of Exline, passed away on October 9, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. Ruth was born to David and Ruth (Vandemark) Solasberry in Aurora, Illinois on August 12, 1940. She received her GED. Ruth married John Matheny on May 25, 1990. Ruth spent her life serving her family as a homemaker. She loved to sew and quilt. Ruth spent hours cooking for her family and took great pride in cleaning her home. She often watched old back and white movies as she worked throughout the house. Ruth is survived by her husband, John, daughter, Lisa (John) Riesebeck of St. Petersburg, FL, son Terry Fisher of St. Petersburg, FL, four grandchildren; Ashley Brink, Jeremy Freese, Matthew Sartor and Cody Fisher, four great grandchildren, sister, Margaret Kerby of Centerville, five step children, Bob Risley, Angela Matheny, Cynthia Anderson, John Matheny and Melody Matheny and many step grand and step great grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents, five sisters; Mary, Dorothy, Margery, Catherine and Aurora, two brothers; Richard and Laurence, step daughter Crystal Salas and mother in law Plinie Harper. A visitation for Ruth will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Thomas Funeral Home. A luncheon will follow at the Exline Community Center. A private graveside service will be held at Exline Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the family, which will be donated to the Royal Neighbors in Ruth's name.
