Ruth King's Obituary
Ruth G. King, 95, of Winterset passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Westbridge Care Center in Winterset. Ruth was born to Jesse & Eliza (Dooley) Phelps on May 25, 1920 in Walnut Township, Appanoose County, Iowa. On September 10, 1938, Ruth was united in marriage to Ernest King. To this union two children were born, JoAnn and Jerry. Ruth was a homemaker who loved caring for her children and home while Ernie worked the farm. She enjoyed playing Bingo, cooking and listening to country music. After retirement, Ruth and Ernie spent many years going south for the winter. Ruth loved spending time with her family; they were her greatest joys in her life. Survivors include her son, Jerry King of Clive, son-in-law Gorlyn Anderson of Arizona, six grandchildren: Sherry Becco (Greg), Shelly Schwartz (David), Craig King, Brett King (Tanya), Brian King (Jennifer) and Chad King, twelve great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest King on March 13, 1992, daughter JoAnn Anderson on April 8, 2013, her daughter-in-law Mary Jo King on September 29, 2001, her grandson Bradly and her great-grandson Brandon Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Thomas-Randolph Funeral Home in Corydon. Interment will immediately follow at Corydon Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior from 10-11 a.m. Memorials may be given to HCI and condolences may be shared at www.thomasrandolphfh.com.
