Russell L. Strickler's Obituary
Russell L. Strickler, age 73, of Numa, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Wayne County Hospital in Corydon, Iowa.
Russell was born on September 19, 1949 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Velma (Herrold) Strickler. He graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1968. On December 4, 1970, Russell was united in marriage to Marie Smith, and to this union, three children were born, Tina, Daniel and William.
Russell began working for Centerville Waterworks as a meter reader. He did this for three years before starting at Union Carbide in Centerville. He worked there for 37 years until his retirement. He also enjoyed farming in his free time.
Russell loved his family, especially teaching his grandchildren how to operate farm equipment and riding 4-wheelers. He enjoyed spending time with his dogs and gardening. Russell never met a stranger. He loved people and was very easy going.
Left to honor Russells memory are his wife of almost 52 years, Marie Strickler of Centerville; his children, Tina (Scott) Walag of Corydon, Daniel Strickler of Seymour, and William Strickler of Centerville; his beloved dog, Dolly; his siblings, Randy (Sonja) Strickler of Centerville, Ronald (Peggy) Strickler of Minnesota, and Kathy (Casey) Jones of Mystic; five grandchildren, Brice Powers, Brianna Powers, Samantha Walag, Tonya (Coly) Ashenfelter, and Alex Selix; three great grandchildren, Owen Ashenfelter, Blake Ashenfelter, and Makenzie Ashenfelter; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Velma Strickler; his brothers, Kenny Strickler, Eugene Strickler and Richard Strickler; and his grandchild, Reece Walag.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30AM, Monday, October 31, 2022 at Numa Cemetery in Numa, Iowa with Larry Bettis officiating. Visitation will take place Monday, October 31, 2022 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with the family greeting friends from 9-10AM.
