Russell T. Shepard's Obituary
Russell T. Shepard, age 96, of Mystic, Iowa, died Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. He was born the son of Fred and Lulu (Bell) Shepard on October 30, 1909 at home in North Bend, Independence township, near Mystic, Iowa. He was the first child of Fred and Lulu (Bell) Shepard. He received his education in a Rural Appanoose Country School and a short time at Mystic High School.On August 7, 1960, Russell was united in marriage to Daphne (McDanel) Hilton in Centerville, Iowa. He lived and farmed most of his life in the North Bend area. He just recently moved to the Golden Age Care Center in Centerville on June 29, 2006. He was a member of the North Bend Church.He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Daphne Shepard on May 4, 1994; and his brothers, Lowell and Merrill Shepard.Surviving family members are: Nephews, Dean Shepard and his wife, Marilyn of Centerville, Wendell Shepard and his wife, Mary Louise of Springfield, Missouri, Stanley Shepard and his wife, Sally of Aitkin, Minnesota, Merrill (Stephen) Shepard and his wife, Tisha of Centerville and Stewart (Stu) Shepard and his wife, Rebecca (Becky) of Des Moines, Iowa; Nieces, Patricia McClanahan of Ottuwma, Iowa and Karen Shondel and her husband, Laverne of Centerville. Also several great and great-great nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 7, 2006 at 10 AM with the Shepard Family presiding. Burial will follow in the Concord Cemetery north of Plano, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2006 from 1 pm till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present from 6 till 8 pm at the funeral home.Memorials can be made to the Concord Cemetery Maintenance Fund and can be left at or mailed to the To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Russell T.
