Ruby Hurt's Obituary
Ruby Hurt, 79, of Centerville, passed away on March 21, 2019 at Centerville Specialty Care. Ruby was born on August 6, 1939 to Clarence and Pauline (Stroud) Chapman in Davenport, Iowa. After attending high school, Ruby married Franklin Hurt on August 30, 1957 and to this union, three children were born. Ruby worked as a CNA for several years in Davenport and Centerville. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bingo, working crossword puzzles, watching her favorite shows which included: Andy Griffith, Matlock, Little House on the Prairie, westerns and NASCAR races. She also enjoyed reading her bible and attending services at Solid Rock Church of God. Ruby is survived by her children: Daniel (Shari) Hurt, Matthew (Lois) Hurt and Becky (Alan) Boyter; eight grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; siblings: Norma (Don) Bulens, Dorothy Wille, Rita (Jim) Mathis and Clarence (Sally) Chapman as well as numerous extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Franklin; brother, Benny Mc Guirk and sister, Pauline Cowan. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Solid Rock Church of God in Centerville. Interment will immediately follow at Dale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville.
