Ruby Mae Ewing's Obituary
Ruby Mae Ewing, age 75, of Unionville, Iowa, died Monday, September 1, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born the daughter of William L. and Carrie L. (Garmon) Cross on August 21, 1933in Unionville, Iowa. She graduated from the Udell Community School in 1950.On June 1, 1952, Ruby was united in marriage to Donald Ewing in Unionville, Iowa. She was a homemaker and loved spending time in her garden. She was preceded in death by: her parents; sisters, Catherine Sellers, LaRue Blumer and Susie Cross; brothers, Toby and Kermit Cross; grandson, Chad Ewing; and granddaughter, Jessica Ewing.Ruby is survived by: her husband, Don Ewing of Unionville, Iowa; daughters, Marlene Jellings and her husband, Ed of Ottumwa, Iowa and Susan Ewing of Unionville, Iowa; sons, Paul Ewing and his wife, Darlene, David Ewing and his wife, Nancy all of Unionville, Iowa, Doyle Ewing and his wife, Barb of Plano, Iowa and Roger Ewing and friend, Janet Kirby all of Unionville, Missouri; two Brothers, Bob Cross of Hazelhurst, Mississippi and Joe Cross of Corydon, Iowa; eleven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 5, 2008 at 10 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Joe Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at the Unionville Cemetery north of Unionville, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2008 from 1 pm till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present from 6 pm till 8 pm.Memorials can be made to the First Responders of Unionville and can be left at the funeral home.
