Roy Robert Bland Jr.'s Obituary
Roy Robert Bland Jr., age 67, of Centerville, passed away Friday, October 15, 2021 at MercyOne Medical Center in Centerville.
Roy was born on October 25, 1953 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Roy Bland Sr., and Blanche (Hart) Bland. He graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1972.
Roy was employed at Union Carbide/Curwood/Viskase for several years before he retired. In his free time, he enjoyed the races, old cars, collecting Budweiser, and driving around Lake Rathbun watching all of the boats. Roy never missed any of his childrens events or extra-curricular activities. He cherished his girls, his cat Boo, and loved visiting with family and friends.
Left to honor Roys memory are his daughters, Lindsey (Clint) Varese of Centerville and Heather (Jay) Franklin of Murray; his grandchildren, Mateo, Damien, Shaddix, Olivia, Ashley, Addison, Eva, and Jettie; nieces and nephews, Randy (Mary) Ervin, Cheryl (Mike) Haldeman, Bessie Milford Dystra (Kim), Robin (Dustin) Pickart; as well as numerous great nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Blanche; and sisters, Velma Milford and Gladys Ervin.
Funeral services will be held at 2PM, Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Alberta Ervin officiating. Burial will follow the service at Exline Cemetery in Exline. Visitation will take place Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, with the family greeting friends from 12PM-2PM.
