Roy L. Bills' Obituary
Roy Luther Bills, age 96 of Mystic, Iowa died Monday July 3, 2006 at the Pella Regional Hospital, Pella, Iowa.
Roy was born September 27, 1909 the son of Edwin and Phoebe (Brassfield) in Streepyville, Iowa. He married Roxie Louise Seals on October 27, 1933 in Mystic, Iowa. She preceded him in death. Roy was a coalminer throughout his working career. Roy worked at Zaputil, Buban, Garfield, and Riverside Mines, retiring from Riverside Mine. He also worked for and retired from the Army Corp of Engineers, where he helped construct the Rathbun Dam. Roy loved the Chicago Cubs, reading westerns, and he enjoyed music, especially playing the Banjo. Gardening was also one of his favorite past times.
Roy is survived by his two children, Evelyn (Salvatore) Macaluso of Arlington Heights, Illinois, and Roy Otis (Lucille) Bills of Pella, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren, Bill (Carol) Macaluso of Schaumburg, Illinois, Kathryn (Bob) Karcz of Arlington Heights, Illinois, Peggy (Jeff) Gonyo of Glenview, Illinois, Sally (Chuck) Fay of Vista, California, Ronald Bills of West Union, Iowa, Robert (Angie) Bills of Marion, Iowa, Richard (Debi) Paducah, Kentucky, Susan (Jeff) Blackford of Marshalltown, Iowa, Steven (Brandi) Bills of Marshalltown, Iowa, Sharon (Rick) McCombs of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Diane (Tyler) Shipley of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Deborah (Chris) Eirikson of State Center, Iowa, and Kevin Bills of Pella, Iowa; thirty two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Roxie; seven brothers, Forrest, Millard, George, Herman, Earl, Grover, and Glenn Bills; and two sisters, Isal Phelps and Elsie Clark.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday morning July 7, 2006 at the Church of the Nazarene, Centerville with Pastor Walter King officiating. Friends may call Thursday with the family present from 6-8 Pm at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery, Mystic. A memorial has been established to the Church of the Nazarene, Centerville and may be mailed or left at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
