Rosemary Brown's Obituary
Rosemary Brown, 84 of Centerville passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Mercy Medical Center - Long Term Care in Centerville.
Rosemary was born July 30, 1938, to Pearl and Ada (Traxler) Parsons in Garden Grove, Iowa. Rosemary graduated from Centerville High School class of 1956, then attended Centerville Community College. She married Lloyd Brown on January 5, 1958 in Centerville, Iowa and to this union they were blessed with three children: Steven Lloyd, Laura Jean and Jeffrey Nelson.
Rosemary was a homemaker while she raised her family and took pride in being involved in all of their activities including being a Boy Scout troop leader and being the president and/or member of the clubs and parent groups for those activities. Rosemary then worked at Traxler's True Value Hardware and Cheri's Hallmark. When Cheri's Hallmark closed, Rosemary worked for Owl Pharmacy with their Hallmark products for many years, until her retirement.
After retirement, Lloyd and Rosemary spent several winters in South Texas; something they enjoyed tremendously and looked forward to annually. Rosemary enjoyed numerous activities, including sewing and cooking or baking with her grandchildren and attending country music "jams." She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Centerville.
Rosemary is survived by her husband, Lloyd; children: Steve (Marchelle) Brown and Jeff Brown, all of Centerville, and Laura Brown of Brandon, Iowa; grandchildren: Brandi (Jesse) Blum, Justin (Jacqueline) Brown, Josh (Jennifer) Brown, Danielle (Josh) Kratofil, Kaitlyn (Nathan) Cagna, Amanda (Richard) Ainesworth, Tyler (Susan) Moore, and Tarah (Matt) Kovacevich, and her great-grandchildren; Dicen Blum, Braden, Riley and Hannah Brown, Coltin, Trenadie and Kynten Brown, Tralyn, Cory, Kinzer and Callie Kratofil, Nolan and Rosalie Ainesworth, Izabelle, Maddux and Hayden Moore, and Matty and Jaxie Kovacevich. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Larry Brown.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Venetah Poffenberger and LeVoy Gragg, a brother, Wendell Parsons and a great-grandson, Qwinen Kratofil.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 28, 2023, at 1:00pm at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with Jan Spurgeon officiating. Burial will follow at the Southlawn Cemetery in Seymour. A visitation will be held, with family present, prior to the service from 11am-1pm at the Thomas Funeral Home. A memorial has been established to the First United Methodist Church (Youth Ministries) and may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Funeral Home 501 N. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
