Rose Stephens' Obituary
Rose Stephens, 91, of Centerville, Iowa, passed away on April 27, 2015 at Centerville Nursing and Rehab. Rose was born to Owen and Margaret (White) McConville on January 7, 1924 in Centerville, Iowa. She was raised with her six siblings. Rose received her education from Centerville High School. She went on to complete two years of college and worked at St. Jospeh's Hospital/Mercy Medical Center, doing payroll and accounting. Rose retired in 1990. Rose was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She belonged to the Ladies of St. Mary's and the Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed crafting, travel and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include two children: Michael Stephens (Vicky) of Centerville, Patrick Stephens (Connie) of Centerville, five grandchildren: Lt. Col. Michael Stephens Jr. (Colleen) of Leavenworth, Kansas, Suzanne Hillyard (Don) of Newton, Joe Stephens (Lila) of Underwood, Iowa, Dan Stephens (Amy) of Ankeny, Ryan Stephens (Amy) of Centerville and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Stephens, six siblings: Kay Cortesio, Owen McConville Jr., Don McConville, Mary Ellen McConville-Cox, Betty Hiatt and Margaret "Muggs" Brunk. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Hubmann officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, April 30 at Thomas Funeral Home with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m., led by Fr. Bill Hubmann.
