Ronald Williams' Obituary
Ronald (Ron) Jack Williams, age 74 of rural Cincinnati, Iowa died Tuesday May 13, 2008 at Golden Age Manor in Centerville. He was born the son of Lee Lorraine and Iva (Hayes) Williams on May 16, 1933 in Centerville. He graduated from Centerville High School in 1951.
On May 12, 1952, Ron was united in marriage to Loretta Blazina at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville. They moved to Des Moines in 1952 where Ron painted by trade. They later moved to the southern California area where Ron painted and was an auto dealer. Upon retiring they moved back to the Centerville area in August of 1996. Ron was a member of the Army National Guard, St. Mary's Catholic Church, the 18-80 Club. He was very active in his church and volunteered regularly at the 18-80 Club and at his sister's restaurant ""The Manhattan"" in Centerville. He truly enjoyed going to the nursing homes and area functions and playing his harmonica. He also had a real love for the race horses and trained as well as owned race horses while living in the California area. He had an artistic talent for painting and won several awards at the local level for his work. Many of the painting can be viewed at the Manhattan Restaurant also. Ron never knew a stranger and enjoyed visiting with everyone.
He is survived by his wife Loretta, one daughter Judy (Jack) Davis of Ontario, CA, a son Ron (Nancy) of Alta Loma, CA, 4 grandchildren; Dana, Andrea, Maggie and Mathew, 4 great grandchildren; Brittany, Jacquline, Drake and Rylie, four sisters; Dorothy ( Walter) Schwager of Centerville, Mary Lou Sexton of Virginia, Karen (Mick) Kauzlarich of Centerville, Cheryl (Jerry) Walters of Marshall, MO, four brothers; Donald ( Twilla) of Centerville, Jim (Mary) of Cincinnati, OH, Richard (Judy) of Runnells, Iowa and Gary (Judy) of Lompoc, CA. He also has many nieces and nephews that he cared for dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Charles; two sisters, Darleen Votaw and Margie Cadem.
Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday morning May 17th at 11:00 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville with Fr. Mike Volkmer officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral Mass from 10:00 to 11:00. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the 18-80 Club or Masses in his name at the St. Mary's Church in Centerville and can be left at the Lange Funeral Home. The body has been cremated and will be taken back to California and interned at a later date.
