Ronald Welsh's Obituary
Ronald Welsh, age 77 of Mystic, Iowa died Friday, August 15, 2014 at Long Term Care, Mercy Medical Center, Centerville, Iowa.
He was born February 11, 1937 in Griffinsville, the son of Francis Eugene and Violet Maxine (Herr) Welsh. Ronald worked in the coal mines during his early adult years. He later helped raise dogs, a family business that lasted several years. The business raised numerous dog breeds throughout the years.
Ronald later raised cattle on his family's thirty acres of land near Mystic.
He had many hobbies throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed collecting numerous types of World War II memorabilia. Ronald was well versed in the history of warfare. He collected firearms and was an avid marksman. He also loved reading books. Ronald enjoyed engaging in numerous types of art, including oil paintings and sketch drawings. He also enjoyed spending time with his great nieces and nephew, Courtney, Olivia and Gabe.
Ronald is survived by his brother, David Welsh of Mystic, Iowa; niece, Gretchen (Zach) Welsh of Mystic, Iowa; and a nephew, Matthew Welsh.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Holly Oden officiating. Private burial will follow the service. A visitation will be held on Monday at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory from 10 AM-8 PM, with the family greeting friends 6-8 PM Monday evening. Memorials have been established to the family of Ronald Welsh and may be given to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
