Ronald R. Richmond's Obituary
Ronald Ray Richmond, 73 of Exline, died Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at home with his family. He was born January 15, 1947 in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Lawrence and Joyce Richmond. Ron married Lina (Jean) Helmick on August 15, 1966 in Lancaster, Missouri. Ron was a graduate of the class of 1965, the largest class to graduate from Centerville High School. Ron served in the U.S. Army from June 1, 1966 until June 6, 1969 and completed basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. Ron*s M.O.S. was Track and Wheel Mechanics and completed his training at Aberdean Proving Ground in Aberdean, Maryland. He was stationed at the Camp Casey Military Base, Dongducheon, South Korea. He completed his military service at Ft. Carson, Colorado. Nothing moved out of the motorpool unless Ron gave the go-ahead. Ron was President of the Centerville Saddle Club and Chairman of the Pony Express Riders for Appanoose County. He had a passion for horses, enjoyed breaking and training Quarter horses and team roping. Ron and Jean had a passion for Colorado and made many trips, including trips with the kids camping and later several horseback riding and hunting trips with family and friends. Ron also made many trips across the country hunting wild game. Ron enjoyed driving across the country with his wife from 2000 * 2003 hot-shotting campers, seeing every state but Alaska and Hawaii. Ron is survived by his wife, Jean Richmond, his children Rodney Richmond (Karen), Christina Crow (Pete), Rachelle Tieszen (Shawn), and Colleen Richmond, 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, sister, Pat Bouc, and brother-in-law, Roger Hill. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Neal Richmond, one sister, Sharon Hill, and one grandchild, Samantha Crow. Visitation will be held from 3-5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at Thomas Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow at Exline Cemetery.
