Ronald P. Smith, 66 of Moravia passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at Monroe County Hospital in Albia. Ron was born to Paul & Eudora (Bailey) Smith on October 22, 1941 in Centerville. He received his education from Moulton-Udell High School in 1960. Ron married Karen Derby on November 22, 1999. He retired in 1980 as an auto body technician. Ron enjoyed camping, briggling, hunting, fishing, taking short trips and time spent with his family. Ron is survived by his wife Karen Smith of Moravia, five children; Ronda Smith of Owensboro, Kentucky, Tonya Simondale(Mike) of Moravia, JoAnn Spinler(Thomas) of Albia, Daniel Smith(Lisa) of Moravia, Dona Butz(Jerry) of Moravia, three step-children; Kelly Van Dyke of Ottumwa, Leroy Van Dyke of Moravia, Jessica Van Dyke of Ottumwa, 18 grandchildren, two brothers; Donald Smith(Linda) of Blakesburg, Roger Smith(Janet) of Oskaloosa, three sisters; Diana Herman(Chris) of Byron, Illinois, Kathy Young(Charlie) of Mystic, Janet Daniels(Ron) of Udell, two sisters-in-law; Karen Smith of Moulton, Shirley Smith of Unionville, Iowa and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Bridgett Smith and two brothers; Keith and James Smith. Visitation will be all day Friday, November 2nd at Thomas Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 p.m.. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday at Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Chapman officiating. Interment will be in Taylor Cemetery in Unionville, Iowa.
