Ronald Eugene McDannald, the middle of four children of Norman and Clementine (Head) McDannald, was born June 25, 1927 in Shelby, Missouri. He passed away December 12, 2011 at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon, Iowa. He was 84 years, 5 months, and 17 days. Ronald attended grades 1-12 in Shelby, Missouri. He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and loved going to church growing up. Soon after graduating from high school Ronald won his true love, Lois Bailey, at an old-fashioned pie auction in October 1945. With only a few dates, Ronald was drafted into the Army in February 1946. Lois traveled faithfully to Louisiana to visit. Ronald and Lois were united in marriage on May 11, 1946. Ronald was discharged from the Army in April 1947. Ronald and Lois settled in Purdin, Missouri as farmers and six children: Darrell, Nita Carol, Michael, Kevin, Brad and Chris. In 1966, Ronald and Lois made the move to Seymour, Iowa where Ronald was a truck driver for 25 years and a custodian for Seymour Schools until his retirement in 1992. Ronald and Lois were happily married 64 years. Ronald lived life to its fullest. You could find him mowing and bowling during the week and the weekends were reserved for camping. Ronald was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. Some highlights included making the trip to Busch Stadium with his son Kevin and great-grandson Sloan to watch the Cardinals take on the Cincinnati Red's, bowling a perfect 300 at the age of 68 years, and being the Grand Marshal of the Old Settlers Parade in July of 2011. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Clemmie, son Darrell, daughter Nita Carol, granddaughter Kassie Smith, and three sisters, Wilma Chaffee, Ruby Denney, and Lois McCollum.
