Romona Gibbs' Obituary
Romona Gibbs, 85, of Promise City, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2020 at her home. Romona was born on the family farm in Seymour on September 6, 1935 to Roy and Vera (Nicholson) Darrah. After graduating from Seymour High School, she married Gene Gibbs on September 5, 1954 and to this union, four children were born. Romona was a wonderful homemaker, devoted wife and caring mother. She was a talented cook and enjoyed playing cards, gardening, dancing (especially attending "jam sessions" back in the day) and spending time with her family. Babysitting her grandchildren and attending their events was also a favorite. Romona was a member of the Rebecca Lodge and a board member for the Wayne County Soil Conservation District as well as for the local elections. Romona is survived by her loving husband, Gene; children: Michael (Wanita) Gibbs, Cona (Jim) Carter, Eddie Gibbs (Tina Leighty) and Wesley (Becky) Gibbs; grandchildren: Trenna Gibbs, Toni (Nevin) Hamilton, Tyler Gibbs, Jenny (Steven) Martin, Vicky (Justin) Flud, Kallie (Will) Reese, Billy Gibbs, Scott Pippin, Vanessa (Chad) Mills, Johnathan (Christa) Russell and Jennifer (Adam) Hook; 16 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Florence and Deloris Darrah and brother-in-law, Miles Snider. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Gene, Dike and Tate Darrah and her sister, Alberta "Bobbie" Snider. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Thomas Funeral Home in Seymour. Interment will immediately follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Visitation will take place one hour prior to services from 1-2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Wayne County Soil Conservation District and online condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com or facebook.com/thomasfuneralhome.
