Romaine Iona VanDeventer's Obituary
Romaine Iona VanDeventer, age 83, of Spring, Texas and formerly of Centerville, Iowa, died Sunday, December 4, 2005, at her daughter's home in Spring, Texas. Romaine was born the daughter of Raymond and Pansy (Leek) Jordan on May 4, 1922 in Centerville, Iowa. She graduated from Moulton Community Schools in 1939 and later attended Indian Hills Community College for one year.On February 25, 1941, Romaine was united in marriage to Joseph William VanDeventer, in Unionville, Missouri. Romaine worked at Union Carbide in Centerville for over 23 years, before she retired, she was their Purchasing Agent. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Centerville.She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Joseph William VanDeventer on April 12, 1998; and son, Billy Ray VanDeventer in October of 1981.She is survived by: her daughter; Jo Ann (VanDeventer) and her husband, Pat Rizk of Spring, Texas; one granddaughter; three grandsons; and one great-grandson.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home, in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Dianne Christopher officiating. Burial will follow at the Harden Cemetery, Moulton, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2005 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home.
