Roger McElderry's Obituary
Roger McElderry, age 69 of Exline, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at the Comfort Hospice House in Pella, Iowa.
Roger was born July 6, 1946 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Darwin ""Darb"" and Ozetta (Mathes) McElderry. After graduation from Centerville High School, Roger entered the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany during Vietnam, and was a mechanic for the army.
On July 5, 1969, he was united in marriage to Linda Rouse. Roger loved to work. He built pole barns, bridges and homes through carpentry. He eventually went to work for Young Radiator, where he was employed for sixteen years.
Roger enjoyed dancing, camping, and being out on his pontoon boat with all of his family. He took great pride in his yard, and very much enjoyed mowing it, and keeping it nice. He loved his family very much, and enjoyed spending time with them.
Roger is survived by his wife, Linda McElderry of Exline; his mother, Ozetta McElderry of Exline; a daughter, Michelle Kaster of Knoxville; and two grandchildren, Kayden and Kirya Kaster of Knoxville.
He was preceded in death by his son, Chad McElderry; three brothers, Floyd Mathes, Larry McElderry, and Dale McElderry; and his father, Darwin McElderry.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 pm, Friday, July 24, 2015 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Alan Coonfield. An open visitation will follow the service at the funeral home until 5 pm. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Exline Cemetery, Exline, Iowa. Memorial contributions have been established to the Roger McElderry Family and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
