Roberta Ione McDonald, 90 of Cincinnati, Iowa passed away Wednesday January 12, 2011 at the Golden Age Care Center. Roberta was born June 4,1920 the daughter of William Rex and Iva (Moon) Amos in De Nova, Colorado. Roberta married Thomas Samson McDonald on April 18th, 1940 in Des Moines, Iowa. Roberta was a beautician and owned My Fair Lady Beauty Salon in Cincinnati for more than 40 years. She loved her work and enjoyed all of her customers she had over the years. She was also very busy raising six children over a span of 22 years. In her spare time she loved to cook, sew, quilt, knit, or anything to keep her hands busy. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Cincinnati. She has been a member of the P.E.O. Chapter C.I. for over 50 years. Roberta is survived by six children, Jan (Lyn) McDonald of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Mary Ellen (Wayne) Wright of Cincinnati, Iowa, Bill (Jane) McDonald of Unionville, Missouri, Jon (Judy) McDonald of Unionville, Missouri, Tom (Sharon) McDonald of Naples, Florida, Lisa (David) Owens of Cincinnati, Iowa. 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, a brother whom was a P.O.W. during WWII, Malcolm (Lorraine) Amos of Afton, Iowa, a sister-in-law Evaloy McDonald of Centerville, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a brother William Amos; and a sister, Mary Ann Smith. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday January 15, 2011 at Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Kay Singley officiating. Visitation will be all day Friday with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
