Roberta Darlene Glovas' Obituary
Roberta Darlene Glovas, age 82, of Cincinnati, Iowa passed away Monday, October 19, 2020 at MercyOne Medical Center in Centerville.
Roberta was born on August 7, 1938 in Cincinnati, Iowa, the daughter of David Benjamin Ervin and Lena Irene (Besse) Ervin. She graduated from Cincinnati High School with the Class of 1956.
Following high school graduation, Roberta worked various jobs, including Dunlap in Unionville, Missouri for many years, and the Manhattan Steakhouse for a period of time. In her early 70s, she was the Mayor of Cincinnati, and coached youth soccer in Centerville into her late 70s. At the end of her working career, she worked in the sanitation department as a janitor for the Centerville Community Schools for approximately 5 years.
Roberta enjoyed Genealogy, and was very devoted to her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Left to cherish Robertas life are her children, Steve LaVerne Shondel (Korena) of Chariton, Gregory Allen Shondel of Cincinnati, and Jeffrey Wayne Shondel of Cincinnati; her grandchildren, Crystal Shondel (Allen), David (Kerri) Shondel, Sara (Hector) Gutierrez, April Shondel (Mitch), Sarina Shondel (Nate), and Aryon Shondel (Alex); her great-grandchildren, Alex, Whitney, Carson, Tanner, Ryder, Exavier, Ezekiel, Layne, Skyler, Kasen, and one on the way, Kaidra; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, David and Lena Ervin; and five siblings, Louise (Bob) Ritter, James (Gladys) Ervin, John (Mary) Ervin, Albert (Joan) Ervin, and Eugene Ervin.
According to Robertas wishes, cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be held November 4, 2020 from 11:00AM-2:00PM at the Cincinnati Community Building, 102 Depot Lane, Cincinnati, Iowa 52549. This will be a time to gather to share the many memories we have of Roberta, and the many ways she touched our lives. Masks are not required, but are encouraged at the service. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to Sarina Shondel, to help with funeral expenses, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, C/O Glovas family, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544. Condolences may be shared online at www.langefh.com. Lange Funeral Home and Crematory of Centerville has been entrusted with caring for Robertas family.
