Robert Scott Smith's Obituary
Robert "Bob" Scott Smith, age 69, of Moravia, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.
Bob was born on July 24, 1955, in Portsmouth, Virginia, the son of Lloyd and Ardeth (Klabunde) Smith. He graduated from Central High School in Omaha, Nebraska. Following high school, Bob joined the United States Air Force, based at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. On August 4, 1979, he was united in marriage to Sheryl Sue Housh, and to this union, three children were born, Nathan, Laura, and Emily.
After the service, Bob returned to Omaha and began working for Federal Land Bank. He then worked for S.W.I.F.T., as a systems analyst, in Culpeper, Virginia. Bob retired from S.W.I.F.T. after 26 years.
In his free time, Bob enjoyed snow-skiing with his brother and good friend, Steve; kayaking, reading, woodworking and golf. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and his family.
Left to honor Bob's memory are his wife of over 45 years, Sue Smith; children, Nathan (Kate) Smith, Laura (Wade) Henderson, and Emily (Tony) Kurimski; grandchildren, Charlotte Smith, Maddie Smith, Noah Smith, Cohen Henderson, Miles Henderson, Jack Kurimski, and Meyer Kurimski; three siblings, Mike Smith, Dennis Smith, and Kelly Smith; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members. Bob will also be missed by good friends Scott and Joan Evans, Mark and Connie Fischer, and Steve Snail.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Smith; mother and step-father, Ardeth and Leonard Trowbridge; his sister, Robin Williams; and his beloved dog, Gracie.
Per wishes, cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
