Robert Schaut's Obituary
Robert Schaut, age 81 of Moravia, Iowa passed away Friday, December 11, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa.
Bob was born November 2, 1928 in Mt. Carroll, Illinois to Carlos and Grace (Lapp) Schaut. On July 6, 1955 he married Loretta Randecker in Fulton, Illinois. In 1965, he started working for Milwaukee Railroad in Savanna , Illinois. Bob and his family moved to Ottumwa, Iowa in 1969 where he continued to work for Milwaukee Railroad. They lived there until 1977 and then moved to Aberdeen, South Dakota. In 1980 Bob and Loretta moved to Addison, Illinois where they lived until he retired from Soo Line Railroad in 1991. Bob enjoyed gardening, cross word puzzles, watching the Iowa State Cyclones, and fishing on Lake Rathbun. He was a proud and happy grandfather. Bob was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Moravia, Iowa.
Bob is survived by his wife Loretta of Moravia, Iowa, one son, Bob (Susan) Schaut of Johnston, Iowa; two daughters, Norma Ragan (Charles Hawkins) of Phoenix, Arizona and Nina (Doug) Neal of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; four grandchildren, Charles (Harmke) Fox III, Robert Schaut, and Laura and Brian Neal; two step grandchildren, Taylor (Miranda) and Heston Roewe; two sisters Phyllis Senneff and Norma Holt both Fulton, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Richter; and four brothers, Maurice, Richard, William, James.
Memorial services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Grace United Methodist Church, Moravia, Iowa with Pastor Gene Kubli officiating. Military Rites will follow the memorial service at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the Grace United Methodist Church and may be mailed to the Lange Funeral Home, PO Box 392, Moravia, Iowa 52571.
