Robert Maurice Elder Obituary's Obituary
Robert Maurice Elder, 80, passed away on April 8, 2013 at the Seymour Care Center. He was born June 1, 1932 in Clio, Iowa to Robert Boyd and Lois Clark Elder. Maurice was born and raised in Wayne County and attended school in Allerton, where he graduated in 1949. In 1952, he was drafted into the Army and served in Fort Leonard, Missouri, Fort Ustus, Virginia and Yuma, Arizona where he trained to operate heavy machinery. Upon discharge from the Army, Maurice returned to Wayne County where he joined his father doing what he loved the most - working the family farm and raising cattle north of Clio. Maurice was also an active member of the election board for his local precinct for several years, enjoyed visiting Branson, local country music shows and during the winter months, coyote hunting. On August 19, 1953 he married Helen Louise Cobb and to this union 3 daughters were born - Doris, Donna, and Louise. On January 12, 1983 he married Martha Smith. Maurice is survived by his three daughters, Doris Terrell and Ron Long of Pearland, Texas, Donna Keller and David Hines of Seymour, Iowa and Louise Elder of Denver, Colorado; two granddaughters, Bridget Klesel and Bryan of Magnolia, Texas and Tiffany Allen of Des Moines, Iowa; three1 great grandchildren, Samuel Klesel, Addison Klesel and Harlowe Crawford; sister, Marcella Marie Cobb, of Allerton, Iowa and nephews Duane Cobb and Karen of Roseville, California and Jerry Cobb and Kim of Johnston, Iowa. His parents and a brother-in-law, Maurice Cobb, preceded him in death.
