Robert "Bob" Schultz Obituary's Obituary
Robert (Bob) Schultz, 85, passed away Tuesday, November 13th, 2012, after a brave battle with cancer. Many of his family were able to visit and be by his side. He was born October 31, 1927 in Oak Park, IL to August and Charlotte (Huebner) Schultz. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy (Osborn) Schultz; a sister, Charlene (Sal) Raimondi of Elmhurst, IL.; three children, Cynthia Huster (Ronald) of Goshen, IN, Donald (Carole) Schultz of Promise City, IA and Michael Schultz of Promise City, IA. He has eight grandchildren; Lauren, Jessica, Brett, William, Nathan, Melissa, Donnie (deceased) and Stephanie. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandchild, Donnie Schultz. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and observed the nuclear testing of the 4th and 5th atomic hydrogen bomb detonations in the South Pacific, Bikini Islands. He worked for many years as an electrical engineer for Raytheon Corp. designing specialty x-ray machines. He and Dorothy retired in 1990 and moved from Elmhurst, IL to Centerville, IA in 1992. He spent much of his free time golfing, fishing, hunting, visiting with family and friends and walking his and mom's beloved chocolate lab 'Rusty'. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 17, 2012 at Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Hargrave officiating. Visitation will be all day Thursday with the family present from 5-7 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home. Interment with full Military Rites will be in Confidence Cemetery.
