Robert N. McAnelly's Obituary
Robert N. McAnelly, age 74, of Centerville, Iowa died Sunday September 4, 2011 Mercy Medical Centerville, Iowa. Bob was born February 6, 1937 to Gaylon and Thora (McKay) McAnelly in Sewell, Iowa. He graduated from Centerville High School in 1955. Bob married Shirley Oden on March 6, 1953. They lived in California for 2 years, then New Jersey until 1959. He owned and operated freight trucks for several years. Bob had retired in 2000 after a successful years as a General Manager of several farm service Co-ops in Illinois and Iowa. In 1971 he started in the Growmark system as an assistant manager at Moravia Farm Service. In 1980 he served as General Manager at the Jersey County Farm Supply in Illinois. In 1990 became Manager at the Mason County Services, and in 1993 managed Cal Car Service Company in Rockwell City, Iowa. Bob was an active member in the Methodist Church, he loved restoring tractors and taking care of the acerage that he and Shirley lived on. He loved watching his sons in sports and was extremely proud of them and his grandchildren. In retirement Bob worked at the Lange Funeral Homes. Bob is survived by his wife Shirley, two sons Doug McAnelly and his wife Barbara of Indianola, Iowa, Bruce McAnelly and his wife Sallee of Glasgow, MO, grandchildren Dru McAnelly and his wife Meredith of Altoona, Iowa, Wade ( FiancAC.e Jamie Novak) of Dubuque, Iowa, Britt McAnelly of Marshall, MO, Joe McAnelly of Oswego, NY, Ben McAnelly of Glasgow, MO; great grandchildren, Justin, Jameson and Madison of Columbia, Mo and Zane of Altoona, Iowa. A brother Jim (Anita) McAnelly of Minneapolis, and a sister Linda Howard, Oskaloosa, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the First Methodist Church, Centerville with Pastor Tara Amundsen officiating. Friends may call all day Wednesday with the family present from 6-8 PM at the Lange Funeral Home, Centerville. Burial will be in the Exline Cemetery, Exline, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to ALS Association (Lou Gehrigs Disease) and may be left or mailed to the Lange Funeral Home, 1900 South 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
