Robert W. Jones' Obituary
Robert ""Bob"" Jones age 73 of Mystic, Iowa died Friday afternoon, February 5, 2010 at the Monroe Care Center, Albia, Iowa.
Bob was born in Monroe County, Iowa on July 25, 1936, the son of Everett and Ruby Mae (Hayworth) Jones. Bob grew up on the family farm northwest of Walnut City. He graduated from Centerville High School. After high school, Bob continued his education by completing a welding certification program. Upon completion of the program, he returned home to the family farm.
Bob engaged in numerous duties around the family farm. Some of these duties included raising pigs and welding farm machinery. Bob was known by family members to be mechanically inclined. He often fixed the tractors and other farm implements when they broke down.
In his free time, Bob enjoyed fishing, reading western novels, and playing hand held video games, such as Yahtzee, Black Jack, and Solitaire.
Bob is survived by three brothers, Richard (Ellen) Jones of Albia, Iowa, James (Carolyn) Jones of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Everett Jones Jr.; two sisters, Sandra (George) Cordell of Ames, Iowa and Alice Jones of Albia, Iowa; eleven nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Donald Jones in infancy; and brother Lloyd Jones during the Vietnam War.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia, Iowa with Pastor Gene Kubli officiating. Burial will follow in the Elgin Cemetery, Mystic, Iowa. Visitation will be held Thursday at Lange Funeral Home from 9-1 PM, with the family present from 12- 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Walnut City Church Restoration Project and may be left at or mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 103 N. John St, Moravia, Iowa, 52571.
