Robert 'Bob' Michael Hook's Obituary
Robert "Bob" Michael Hook, age 68, of Centerville, passed away Friday, July 17, 2020 at his home.
Bob was born on July 12, 1952 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Kenneth and Alice (Weiland) Hook. After graduating from Knoxville High School, he entered into the United States Navy and served his country faithfully during the Vietnam Era. He also furthered his education, obtaining his Associates Degree.
Bob managed Browns Shoe Fit in many locations for almost 20 years. He then became a National Sales Representative for Kness Manufacturing in Albia. He retired in 2014. Bob enjoyed golfing and grilling. He loved sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes. Most importantly, Bob cherished his family, and every moment spent with them.
Left to honor Bobs memory are his children, Jill Johnson of Melcher Dallas, Iowa, Staci (Jeremy) Veach of Centerville, and AJ (Sonja) Hook of Ankeny, Iowa; his soul mate, Virginia Tull of Centerville; his dogs, Herky and Barkley; a step daughter, Cheryl (Billy) Ackerman of Chicago, Illinois; his step father, Harold Wright of Knoxville, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, Matthew (Taryn), Marcus, Kole, Corder, Cora, Avery, Chase, Ryker, Megan, Ragen, Priscilla, and Daphne; four siblings, Sally (Mike) Proctor of Urbandale, Iowa, Bette (Mike) Cunningham of Knoxville, Iowa, Rita (Howard) Elliott of Melbourne, Florida, and William "Bill" (Lyn) Hook of Coralville, Iowa; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents: mother, Alice "Muggs" Wright; father, Kenneth Hook; and step mother, Ruth Hook.
In lieu of formal services, the family will gather in casual attire to celebrate Bobs life beginning at 5:00PM, Friday, July 24, 2020 at the Appanoose County Country Club in Centerville. Refreshments will also be provided for the friends and family. Memorials have been established to the Appanoose County Country Club and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, C/O Hook family, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
