Robert Carl Hanson's Obituary
Robert Hanson, age 82 of Centerville, Iowa passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014 at his home.
Robert was born July 17, 1931 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Beulah (Howell) Hanson. After graduating from high school, Bob joined the US Navy in which he served 4 years, as well as an additional 4 years in the US Navy Reserves. While in the service, he married Beverly Smith on January 14, 1956 in Fresno, CA. Bob loved his church and had been a member of the Drake Avenue Christian Church for many years. Bob worked at Kirkville Coal Company and he drove a truck. He had been very active in the church and had served on numerous boards throughout his years of membership. In his spare time he loved the St. Louis Cardinals, watching TV and family get-togethers.
Robert is survived by his wife Beverly, a son Darrin Hanson of Centerville, Iowa, a granddaughter Tasha Hanson of Apple Valley, MN, great grandchildren Chad Short, Gunner Zugg, Isaiah Hanson, Zared Hanson; and a brother Don (Kay) Hanson of Centerville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Betty Voss and her husband Bob.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM Monday, May 19, 2014 at the Drake Ave Christian Church in Centerville with Reverend Sara Galindo officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 10AM until service time at the Church. Interment will follow in the Exline Cemetery, Exline, Iowa with Military Rites. A memorial has been established and may be left at the Lange Funeral Home & Crematory, Centerville. Condolences may be left at www.langefh.com
