Robert Deputy's Obituary
Robert J. Deputy, 81, of Seymour, passed away on June 8, 2020 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. Robert was born on August 4, 1938 in Davis County, Iowa to Homer and Pansy (Hayworth) Deputy. After graduating from Seymour High School in 1956, Robert proudly served in the United States Navy until he was honorably discharged in October of 1963. After his military career, Robert married Cora Jean Teter on December 8, 1963 in Macon, Missouri and to this union, two children were born. Robert was a longtime farmer around the Appanoose County area. He developed a fondness of horses at a very young age and carried that with him for many years. This would serve him well while caring for livestock and land throughout his farming career. Robert also enjoyed spending time with his family, spoiling his grandchildren and was an avid reader. He was a longtime member of Plano Christian Church. Robert is survived by his wife, Cora; son, John (Amy) Deputy; grandchildren: Riley (Erik) Wenger and Reegan Deputy and sister, Ernestine Krafka as well as numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert J. "Rob" Deputy II and his brother, Rex Deputy. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Thomas Funeral Home in Seymour. Interment will immediately follow at Jerome Cemetery.
