Sherry and family, I am so saddened to learn of your loss. What wonderful memories I have of Bob and you and all of your grandkids and friends. Nathan comes to mind and of course uncle Kevin the talented artist, Bruce and Cathy and their love of history, and the wonderful meals and conversations, surrounded by the gorgeous Iowa prairie. Occasionally a pheasant would fly by, but he was safe with us. My neighbor Bill May here in northern Colorado grew up for a while in Mystic Iowa and the family homestead is on the west side of Elk mountain and is MYSTIC, CO. Bob was a prince. No man has ever had a bigger heart. He never met a stranger and gave of himself, always. God bless you all. I know and believe that Bob will continue to look over us and petition for us, all of our days. Our prayers and best wishes in these sad and difficult days will be with you. Bob was a great friend to my parents (Don and Peggy Cronin), as well as myself. He and Sherry always opened their home, their hearts, and gave smiles to everyone they encountered. Bob was a generous fellow, and I will always remember him being good to my family. Always a story, a joke, or a tale to tell.....I will never forget his brilliant knack for putting others at ease. So sad, for all of us, to hear that Bob has gone on to be with the Lord. He will be greatly missed! I so wish I had made a trip back to see him sooner. I had planned to visit the middle of March. He was my only connection to my father's side of the family, that I had here in Iowa. Everything said about him is so true! A very happ,loving, caring and friendliest christian you could ever meet! I do hope to still keep in touch with the rest of the family. May the Lord help heal your sorrow and loneliness in time. My husband, Arnold enjoyed our visits with Bob also. I only met Bob about six and a half years ago, but my life was truly blessed by him. He was one of those few, special people that just lightened the room and made people happy every where he went. He called about every man brother and he treated them even better than one. Bob loved the Lord deeply and it was through his desire to see a Spanish Church planted in Ottumwa that I met him in Johnson CIty, TN. He came into my office at church and asked if I knew of a Hispanic Preacher that would like to go to Iowa. We were actually looking for preachers ourselves for our own mission works in Tennessee at the time! But though God's direction and by using brother Bob, we ourselves came to Iowa to be the church planters! So here we are in Ottumwa because of Bob. There is so much more I could say about Bob...his interesting stories...and his amazing ability to sound happy and chipper even when we was gravely ill. That is just an ability I do not have...an ability that I have only seen a couple of times in my life. He almost never complained, because he was always more interested in the person that was in front of him than himself. When you were with Bob, he treated you like you were the most important person in the world. Thanks Bob. You will never be replaced...our world is a little darker with you gone, but your memories brighten our thoughts. I have many awesome memories of Bob. He will be missed. I am grateful for all the great things Bob did for me. I still have all the items he gave me from Milligan College (now University) in Tenn.
