Robert Zenis Burns' Obituary
Robert Zenis Burns, 91 of Moulton, passed away Friday, August 26, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.
Robert was born on March 28, 1931, to Elmer & Frances (Young) Burns in Winfield, Iowa. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1950. On April 11, 1954, Robert was united in marriage to Glenice Clinkenbeard. To this union came three children: Glenda, Neil and Roberta.
Robert was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving from January 1952 to January 1954. Robert was employed by John Deere in Ottumwa for 30 years. During this time he also enjoyed farming and caring for his cow/calf herd. As a hobby, he liked the challenge of rebuilding cars.
He was a gentle, quiet man of strong faith in Jesus Christ who was his Lord and personal Savior. His love and dedication to his wife, Glenice Mae, and children were unwavering throughout his life.
Survivors include his children: Glenda Jensen (Bruce), Neil Burns (Cindy), Roberta Davenport (Mark), grandchildren: Marshall Burns (Gretchen), Zachary Burns (Alissa), Neilea Ficek (Joel), Aura Aguirre (Edwin), Alicia Davenport, great grandchildren: Trenten, Ethan, Eliza Burns; Titus, Taggert, Truett, Beatrix Ficek; Eddie, Andrew, Avianna Aguirre; Paris Harris, siblings: Ardythe Gray (Skip), Loretta Crow (Nick), Colleen Crow (Carl), Raymond Burns (Eloise), Delbert Burns (Karen), sister-in-law, Donna Burns. He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenice Burns, grandchildren; Elizabeth (Lizzie) Freeborn, Jennifer Burns, great grandchildren: Madison Burns, Micah Burns, siblings: Winona Wise (Kenneth), Deloris Sauer (Arlo), Charlotte Simpson (Dave), Floyd Burns (Aurelie) and Kendel Burns.
The family would especially like to thank Dad's loving caregivers: Joey Fincher, Hanah Johnson, Katie Daniels, Terra Giese, Paige Hackathorn, Emily Meredith, Kylie Rouse, Allison Banasik, Leah Kirby, Julie Payne.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church near Centerville. Interment will immediately follow at Sunset View Cemetery near Moulton with military rites. Visitation will be all day Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with family present from 5-7:00 pm. Memorials may be given to Mt.
