Robert "Bob" Lincoln Singley's Obituary
Robert "Bob" Lincoln Singley, age 96, of Moulton, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2025.
Bob was born on November 11, 1928 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of George Carson Singley and Myrtle Mae (Gale) Singley. He graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1946. On January 16, 1949, Bob was united in marriage to Shirley Grace Piatt. To this union, two children were born, Shelley and Robert "Robbie". The couple was married for 74 years before Shirley passed away in 2023.
As a child, Bob was baptized in a pond by the Orleans Church of Christ. Later in his life, he became a member of the Moulton Christian Church with his wife. Bob was very involved in the Moulton Christian Church. He was a Deacon, Elder and Elder Emeritus, as well as a board chairman, trustee, Sunday school superintendent and youth leader.
Bob began farming at the age of 12 when his father passed away. This led to his family's century farm, which was awarded in 2011. Bob was a farmer for over 82 years. He had a hog business partnership with his brother-in-law, Terry Piatt and his son, Robbie Singley. Simultaneously, he raised his beloved barn cats, hogs, horses, milk cows, Angus Cows, sheep, corn, soybeans, hay and oats. He also planted cucumbers for summer work for his family members. Bob was very dedicated to his work, very passionate about Black Angus Cows and continued working until he couldn't anymore. He last checked his cows in November of 2024 in his side by side.
When Bob and Shirley were younger, they enjoyed going square dancing and traveling to Colorado. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, making a lot of furniture items. He was also fond of reading and giving book reports, puzzles, being a Lion's Club member, and playing cards- especially Bridge and Pitch.
Left to honor Bob's memory are his daughter, Shelley (Richard) Burger; his daughter-in-law, Kay Singley; his grandchildren, Tim Burger, Andrea (Jeff) DeWeese, Heather (J.T.) Murphy, and Rachel Singley (friend, Andrew Bellizzi); 13 great grandchildren; his siblings, Maurice (Beverley) Singley and Gale Wayne (Lynn) Singley; as well as extended family and friends.
