Rick Ahee's Obituary
Rick Ahee, age 58, of Iconium, Iowa died Monday, September 18, 2006 at his home.
Rick was born March 14, 1948 the son of Donald and Roberteen (Beaty) Ahee in Marshalltown, Iowa. He graduated from Moravia High School in 1966, where he lettered in both basketball and baseball. He received an Associates Degree from Centerville Community College in Centerville. Rick continued his education at Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, Missouri where he graduated with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts Degree. He was employed with Rural Community Crop Insurance for over twenty years. Rick was a former executive director of the Chamber of Commerce in both Mason City and Centerville. He was instrumental in bringing both Rubbermaid and Wells Manufacturing to Centerville. Rick helped start the Appanoose County Railroad in the mid 1980s. He loved to golf, take care of his horses, hunting and playing cards. Rick will be remembered by his family and friends for having a ""quick wit"" and easily making friends.
Rick is survived by his two children, Jocelyn and her husband Jeff Straight of Logan, Iowa, and his son Jacob Ahee of Ames, Iowa; his mother Roberteen Ahee of Unionville, Iowa; two six month old twin grandsons, Jack and Jace Straight of Logan, Iowa; a close friend Julie Woodley of Iconium, Iowa; two brothers, Mike and his wife Maxine Ahee of Unionville, Iowa, Dave and his wife Lora Ahee of Calhoun, Louisiana; two sisters, Janet Morris of Ottumwa, Iowa, and Donna and her husband Allan Herman of Solon, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rick was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, Centerville, Iowa with Reverend Bill Eakins officiating. Pallbearers for the funeral service will be six nephews, Bryan and Jamie Ahee, George and Garin Woodward, Todd and Eric Irwin. Interment will follow at the Unionville Cemetery in Unionville, Iowa. A visitation will be held all day Tuesday at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 PM. A memorial has been established to the family and may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
