Richard Bellus Squires' Obituary
Richard Bellus Squires, age 79, of Centerville passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at his home with EveryStep Hospice.
Richard was born on June 17, 1943 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Freddie Joe and Anita (Wright) Squires. He attended Simpson College in 2011 and studied Lay Ministry. He was united in marriage to Sharon Kaye Henningfield, on June 5,1993.
Richard worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator in the Quad Cities until he moved back to Centerville in 1974. He then worked at SIG's, Vernon Dougherty and Jack Morris before accepting a position at Ideal Ready Mix in 1993. He drove a truck for Ideal until his retirement.
In his free time, Richard enjoyed working on cars, especially Derby Cars, socializing with people and customers, working with his hands, and being a carpenter. He was a member of the West Grove Crossroads Church and the Jerome United Methodist Church.
Left to honor Richard's memory are his wife, Sharon Squires; his children, Jenni (Zach) Scott, Tammy (Chuck) Clark, Richard (Timra) Squires, Jason (Tonya) Squires, Todd (Melissa) Squires, Richard Hesse, Kathy (Chad) Williams, Lynette (Michael) Stickel and Joseph Rogers; 21 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; three siblings, Dale Squires, Carolyn (Mark) Kruzich, and Judy O'Conner; as well as several extended family members.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Freddie and Anita Squires; his sister, Cecil Cooper; as well as several other family and friends.
Per wishes, cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6:00PM, Monday, December 12, 2022 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with Rev. Gordon Hawkins officiating. Visitation will take place, Monday, December 12, 2022 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville beginning at 1PM, with the family greeting friends from 5-6PM. Memorials in honor of Richard may be written to Sharon Squires, to be determined at a later date, and may be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, ATTN: Squires Family, 501 North 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
