Richard D. Sowells' Obituary
Richard Sowells, age 45, of Mystic, Iowa died April 18, 2008 at the Mercy Medical Center in Centerville.
Richard was born February 8, 1963, the son of Walter and Nancy (Collins) Sowells in Kennette, Missouri. He graduated from Davenport West High School in Davenport, Iowa in 1981. Richard married Brenda Ruby on August 27, 1988 at the Dale Church in Centerville, Iowa. He enjoyed working on his ""old"" cars and was well known for being able to fix anything that needed repaired. Richard was well known around the community for the years that he spent playing Santa Claus. He loved spending time with his family, including his dog Natasha. Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Richard is survived by his wife Brenda Sowells of Mystic, Iowa; his mother, Nancy Sowells of Mountain Home, Arkansas; two sisters, Terry Belzer of Ottumwa, Iowa, and Laura (Matt) Weiman of Davenport, Iowa; two brothers, Raymond (Ann) Sowells of Yellville, Arkansas, and Ronald Sowells of Kansas; father and mother-in-laws Gene (Connie) Ruby of Mystic, Iowa; a brother-in-law Steve (Nancy) Ruby of Centerville, Iowa; a sister-in-law Ronda Sturms of Centerville, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his father Walter Sowells, an aunt Linda Collins, and a cousin Ronda Scott.
Funeral services will be held 10 AM, Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at the Dale Church with Pastor Gerald Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at the Numa Cemetery, Numa Iowa. Visitation will be held Monday with the family present from 6-8 PM at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home. A memorial has been established to the family and may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
