Richard Lyle Peck's Obituary
Richard Peck, 89, of Corydon passed away Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Wayne County Hospital in Corydon. Richard was born on June 17, 1926 in Corydon, Iowa to Lewis & Marie (Olmstead) Peck. He received his education graduating from Wayne County High School in 1944. Richard was a veteran of the United States Army Corps serving from 1946 - 1948. After serving his country he returned home where he married Wanda Ilene Jessip on August 9, 1949 at Corydon United Methodist Church. Richard grew up on the farm that was owned by his family from 1857 to 2002. He farmed the land from 1949 to 2002. He enjoyed the outdoors and working his land. He was also a seed corn salesman for Jacques Seed and Mycogen since 1975. Richard was a member of the Corydon United Methodist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed his horses and spending time with his family. Richard enjoyed watching high school sports and was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan since 1939. He followed the Reds every season and hung in with them through the good times and bad. Richard is survived by his wife of 66 years, Wanda Peck of Corydon, son Mark Peck (Julie) of Indianola, daughter Carolyn Rodish (Dennis) of Clive, daughter-in-law Lee Ann Peck of Corydon, brother Harold Peck of Corydon, 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Marie Peck, son Grady Peck, sister, Kathryn Hagberg, and brother Gene Peck. Funeral service will be 1:30, Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Thomas - Randolph Funeral Home in Corydon with Pastor Buck officiating. Interment will follow in Corydon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday, October 23, 2015 at Thomas - Randolph Funeral Home in Corydon.
