Richard "Max" McCarty's Obituary
Richard "Max" McCarty, son of Howard and Estel (Ward) McCarty was born on March 3, 1942 in Lineville, Iowa. Max passed away peacefully at the Wayne County Hospital, a patient of EveryStep Hospice of Centerville on January 28, 2019. Max attended Allerton schools where he enjoyed playing basketball, football, track, and baseball. He graduated from Allerton High School Class of 1961. His motto was "I don't care anything for the ladies but they all seem to be wild about me." In 1962 he was united in marriage to Pamela Simmons and to this union two sons were born; Gregory and Jon. They later divorced. He was united in marriage to Darlene Niday in 1973. They were married until Darlene passed in 2000. Max enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger days. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family and friends. All the McCarty brothers loved comparing who had the best vegetables every year. He farmed and worked as an Iron Worker with Local #67. Max is survived by his sons: Gregory (Trish) McCarty of Eddyville and Jon (Jody) McCarty of Bussey; grandchildren: Ryan (Ashley) McCarty, Jared (Chris) Fritz-McCarty, MaKenzie McCarty (Aron Burk) and Spencer McCarty (Courtney Johannes); great-grandchildren: Rylyn, Owen, Roston and Layla; brothers: Jimmy McCarty, Rex McCarty and Johnny (Jeralee) McCarty; sister-in-law, Linda McCarty; special friend, Marquetta Rhoades and several other extended family members and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene; parents: Howard and Estel; stepmother, Jean (Bevel) McCarty; grandsons: Jonathan and Jordan; brothers: Gary and Bobby; sister, Arlene Mulvania; brother-in- law, Max Mulvania; sister-in-laws: Jean, Donna and Verla as well as a special friend, Vonnie Crees. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon. Interment will immediately follow at Allerton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Thomas Funeral Home.
