Richard Joiner's Obituary
Richard Leo Joiner, age 72, of Plano, died May 5, 2007 at Continental Care Center, Seymour, Iowa. Richard was born May 23, 1934 in Plano, Iowa to Herbert Leo and Cloe Ellen Wells Joiner. He married Jeanne Pickering Liljenquist Feb 10, 1988. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne, 2 stepsons Troy & Scott Wareing, 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, brother Royce Joiner (Gladys) of Plano, sisters Pauline Golick of Centerville and Marilyn Koehler (David) of Udell and sister in law Helen Joiner of Davenport as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother and sister Ronald Raymond and Reba Ruth Joiner, a sister Carol Jean Soppe and brother Roscoe Joiner. Richard graduated from Seymour Community in 1952, left Iowa with ""Slip King""(Ernie Bryan). Later he was called into the US Army and served our country until 1962. He returned out West working on a sheep farm before getting into the car business. Worked both in Utah and Idaho as Fleet Manager with the Dodge Dealership and Bronco Motors of Boise. He was a past Exalted Ruler BPOE Elks in Preston, Idaho, member of Telephone Partners of America and the American Legion at Seymour. He returned to Iowa after retiring in 1990. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Plano Christian Church with Pastor David Welch officiating. Burial will follow at the Crossroads cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
