Richard Huber's Obituary
Richard Huber Sr., age 84 of Mercer, MO, formerly of Centerville, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at his home.
He was born August 7, 1929 in Fort Atkinson, Iowa to Zeno P. and Mildred (Riehle) Huber. On August 29, 1952 Richard entered in the United States Army. He served his country faithfully in the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, Richard married Betty L. Strode in Rock Island, Illinois on October 29, 1957.
Richard worked in the automotive industry as a mechanic for thirty five years. Upon his retirement, he became the manager of the Centerville Airport. Richard was employed as the airport manager for nearly ten years.
He engaged in numerous outdoor hobbies throughout his lifetime, most notably, fishing and hunting. Richard was raised in the Catholic Church and actively attended Sunday church services.
Richard is survived by his wife, Betty Huber of Mercer, Missouri; a son, Richard Huber Jr. (girlfriend Angel Sellers) of Oskaloosa, Iowa; a step-son, Evert Hayes of Centerville, Iowa; two grandchildren, Anthony (Rachel) Huber of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Michael (Amy) Hayes of North Carolina; two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Savanah Huber of Lee's Summit, Missouri; a brother, James A. Huber of Steuben, Wisconsin; four sisters, Thelma (Calvin) Lair of Danville, Iowa, Grace Pavlovec of Fort Atkinson, Iowa, Ruth Pavlovec of Fort Atkinson, Iowa and Helen (Edwin) Langreck of Fort Atkinson, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Zeno W. Huber Jr. and Robert Huber; three sisters, Marie Stafford, Coletta Ameling and Rose Stammeyer; and a step-son, Terry Hayes.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Lange Funeral Home with Father Duc Dominic Nguyen officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Elgin Cemetery, Mystic, Iowa. A memorial has been established to the family of Richard Huber Sr. and may be left at the funeral home.
