Richard Andrew Hopkins, age 92 of Unionville, Iowa passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2022 surrounded by his family. Richard was born on January 9, 1930 in the middle of a massive snowstorm in Udell, Iowa, the son of James Delber Read Obituary
I loved going to the Hopkins to see what Uncle Richard made from odds and ends. Biggest one i rembered was a truck that turned into a camper. He was larger than life in my mind. I will look forward to see what he has made in his eternal workshop. RIP Richard you will be missed.

I remember almost every single time we went down to my grandma's, we'd always visit Grandma and Grandpa Hoppy's house before we left for home. We live in Davenport, which is about two and a half hours away, so we didn't really get to see them that often. Only when we went to my grandma's house. I remember we'd always go there, walk in, and sit on the couch. We'd talk about how our sports were, how school was going, and other things that were happening in our lives. They'd always be astonished on how old we are, since we rarely visited them. I also always remembered the seven dollars they would give us. Every time we would go there, they would always give us seven dollars. I'm not sure why, but they did, and we appreciated it. I also remember the Easter egg hunts we had there. They were so much fun. The last time I visited grandma and grandpa in their house was August 28th. We went there, sat on the couch, and talked about the same things we'd always talk about, sports, school, and other things happening in our lives. But, there was one thing that was different. Instead of giving us seven dollars, they gave us ten. I don't know if they planned this, or if it was just by coincidence, but that was the last time I received money from their house. Grandpa will always be remembered by me, with the seven dollars.

Gary and I are glad we stopped to see Richard last Thursday and had a cup of coffee and sugar free cookie with him. We kiddingly say that Marge and Richard are our drinking buddies. That is our coffee drinking buddies. They were the starting couple of our coffee group at Hy-Vee every Wednesday and sometimes on Friday. We always enjoyed our visits with Richard and was glad to hear his stories and advice of all the years of of his experience. Gary and Richard shared all their stories of cars and how to work on them. We enjoyed Richard and Marge's 70 years of marriage celebration. We will greatly miss him and wish we could have got to know him longer. Love to all of his family, Gary and Cheryl Burrows.
