Richard Hodge's Obituary
Richard ""Bud"" Hodge, age 75 of Centerville, Iowa died Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville.
Richard was born July 2, 1934 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of William and Lavelle (Davidson) Hodge. He was married to Barbara Lynn Phillips in Tempe, AZ in 1985 . Bud graduated from Centerville High school and received a Bachelor of Arts in Forestry from the University of Nebraska. He was retired from the US Air Force (1951-1974), and took great pride in serving in the Korean War. After he retired from Military service he worked on oil rigs in the Mideast including Saudia Arabia, Kuwait and Iraq. His last position was with Werner Trucking of Oklahoma. He loved to fly Airplanes, loved horses and cows, and loved to shoot the breeze at the coffee shops.
He is survived by 9 children, Sheryl Ann (Robert) Teare of Hinckley, IL, Karen (Jerald) Ballanger, of Centerville, Elaine (Joe) Kirby of New York, NY, Scott (Karla) Hodge of Ft. Worth, Texas, DaYon (Travis) Griffith, Texas, Ginny (Randall) Norman of Springer, Oklahoma, Gary (Lisa) of Moore, Oklahoma, LaDonna (Gary) Gappa of Ft. Sam Houston, Texas, Rhonda McIntire, Yukon, Oklahoma, 12 Grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, a sister Dorla Jean (Alfred) Simmons of Centerville. Richard was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, grandchild Derek Vizer, both parents and a son-in-law Robert Teare.
Graveside services with military rites will be held Monday morning, February 1, 2010 at 10:30 at the Mt. Ararat Cemetery with Pastor Lloyd Johnston officiating. Friends may call Sunday from noon until 8 PM at the Lange Funeral Home, Centerville. The family will be present at the Lange Funeral Home from 6-8 Pm Sunday evening. A memorial has been established to the Richard Hodge Memorial Fund and may be left or mailed to the Lange Funeral home. Condolences may be left at www.langefh.com
